NRA Range Safety Officer Course
This course develops NRA Certified Range Safety Officers with the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
The NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) program is designed to provide nationally recognized certification for individuals responsible for range safety. RSOs are trained to organize, conduct, and supervise safe shooting activities, including range inspections, emergency procedures, and handling firearm stoppages or malfunctions
The program is suitable for shooters of all experience levels who want to ensure safety on club or public ranges.
- Attendees must be age 21 or above.
- This course is nine hours long and is conducted in a classroom and at a shooting facility.
- Range Safety Officer candidates will learn roles and responsibilities of an RSO; Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); range inspection; range rules; range briefings; emergency procedures; and firearm stoppages and malfunctions.
- Each Range Safety Officer Candidate will receive an RSO Student Study Guide, a Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, an NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and a Course Evaluation form.
- The RSO course is not specific to any shooting discipline and is designed to provide practical experience in running a safe range.
- RSO Certification: Valid for six years from the date of issue
Normally this course is $175 and $200 but if the student is a member of the LCGC and is volunteering to upgrade to a blue tier member, this course is covered by the club.
